It’s an unusual sight for many, unless you’re a regular traveler on the roads around Dalens Luxury Apartments and Self Catering Accommodation. At the Lion and Rhino Park, on most days, you’ll spot the rare and incredibly beautiful White Bengal Tiger walking the length of it’s enclosure just off the main road. Even for locals it takes a while to get used to seeing this beautiful animal.
The White Bengal Tiger is not an albino. They have beautiful blue eyes, with an unusual white pigmentation, caused by a recessive gene that produces it’s rare white/ivory coat colour.
The Lion and Rhino Park is just 13km (15 min) from Dalens Luxury Apartments, and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 08h00 to 15h45. Gates lock at 17h00 on weekdays and 18h00 on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.
The Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve “The Nearest Faraway Place” is a privately owned game reserve covering some 1200 hectares which has opened to the public in 1990. After humble beginnings visitors may now view in excess of 650 heads of game, including some very rare and endangered species. The reserve falls within the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site (COHWHS)
